Mr. Fradkin Goes to Washington
Hello Muhdda, Hello Fahdder

Hello again everybody, loyal readers. It has been now two weeks since last informed of life inside the Beltway(I know now why this area is called the “Beltway” it is because of I-495 makes a loop around the DC Metro Area that looks like a belt, Now my Blog is a educational as well as entertaining). But this post will specifically talk about my adventures when Mom and Dad were in town to visit me! We had a blast and the post explain why.

Mom and Dad flew in to DC on a redeye and landed around 7 on Saturday Morning. I made the long trek to their hotel and woke them up to head off to brunch at Kramerbooks, which was quite yummy. I showed them a little of Dupont Circle, but then they were very tired and I took them back to nap. Hours later, Mom and I walked to Filene’s basement, mainly because she wanted to see this place I had been talking about so much. Needless to say she was hooked at first sight, as are most of Filene’s customers. After that we all met a family friend for some dinner at Lauriol Plaza, the ONLY decent Mexican food restaurant in town sadly. However, it is really good. Like surprisingly so, as in the restaurant could compete with some of L.A.’s best. It was heavenly in a sea of horrible mexican-food wannabes across the city. After dinner we walked around the houses of Dupont Circle and ended up with some yummy dessert at Kramerbooks.

The next day was exciting as well and not just because my parents encountered their first Squagels from Cosi, but because that afternoon the Jennings of Northport, NY were arriving in town. Prior to this, we headed over to the Holocaust Memorial Museum and viewed the special exhibitions. The one chronicling the rise of Nazism through propaganda was extremely fascinating. After that we met up with the Jennings and caught up and then made our way to the Georgetown Waterfront for dinner at Farmers and Fishers. This place is famous for all local grown and farmfresh food, that I found to be delicious, but no one else did.

Monday was a very busy day, which began with a personal tour of the Capitol, led by none other than yours truly. And I have to say that everyone loved it, and if not they were very good at feigning interest in a large portion of my internship responsibilities. After that, the I took them to Good Stuff for some yummy lunch and then we headed to the American History Museum where I met the man himself. Some call him the great unifier, I call him Kermit the Frog. He was right next to Apollo Ohno’s skates in the alcove of popculture. After that I took mom to see the First Lady Gowns collection, because girls like dresses and all that, and we found it funny that Hillary’s and Laura’s reside in the same glass box. As the skies opened up rain, a torrent if you ask mother, we headed back to the hotel to freshen up for some dinner at Old Ebbit Grill, a Washington institution that was established in 1856. The food was equally signaturely DC and yummy, very good chicken tortilla soup if you ask me. The dinner was followed by the most amazing bread pudding i have ever had in my entire life, beyond words to describe.

Sadly, Mom and Dad left me on Wednesday morning for the balmy state that does not know how to fill out a ballot. It was great to have them here, and not just because I did not have to pay for a single meal for four days, but also because they bought me a really nice jacket! Just kidding, it was fun to show them the city and I had a blast. I am sure they are reading this now so now I want to thank them for supporting me while I am here, mostly paying for the ridiculous rent I have to pay for here at the UC Center(, they don’t even provide toilet paper in the dorms, how broke is the UC system that they cant afford us with the 1/2ply you find on campus). Thanks again for coming and making the trek Mom and Dad. Love you guys! Until next time…to quote one of my favorite shows when I was a kid, Later Days!(points to whoever gets it right)
